My Flavour of Solidarity Prepping

Everyone should know 1st aid and how to both self-care and help others.

Everyone should consider taking the freely available Adult and Children's Mental Health 1st Aid courses.

Protest & Survive
Protests can be tiring, but advanced preparation can be the difference between being miserable and having a great time while making a point.
It's important to know what kind of weather conditions you will be subject to. Make decisions about whether the weather conditions you may have to contend with are safe to be outside in. This is especially relevant during a heatwave, where cities like London create deadly microclimates which can be unpredictable. Know and understand wet-bulb temperatures and how to survive them:

"If you are camping/ outdoors during a wet bulb event STAY OUT OF THE SUN, SEEK DENSE SHADE OR COOL WATER. Tomb-Stoning into cold rivers, however, is not advised. Access to cold water is essential for cooling your body. Saturate the clothes you are wearing. Use fans to create air flow. Drink cold water. Use hydration electrolytes, while sweating might not be cooling your, you will still sweat."

Food is a legal right if you are in police custody. Under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE) and associated codes of practice, detainees are entitled to receive regular meals and drinks while held in a police station.

Here are the key details regarding food entitlement in custody:

Meal Requirements: Detainees must be offered at least two light meals and one main meal in any 24-hour period.
Drinks: Drinks must be provided with meals and on reasonable request between meals.

Dietary and Religious Needs: The police must make arrangements to meet specific dietary or religious requirements, such as vegetarian, vegan, or halal food, as far as is practicable.

Timing: Food should be offered at regular, recognized meal times. If a person is in custody for more than four hours, they should be offered food.
Food from Outside: In some cases, a custody officer may allow food to be brought in by friends or family, but this is at their discretion and usually restricted to unique dietary or religious needs.

Medical Care: If a detainee has specific health needs related to diet, such as gluten-free or diabetes-related requirements, advice can be sought from a health professional.

If you are not offered food, you should use the intercom system in your cell to request it.

You should tell the police if you feel ill, need medicine or have an injury. They will arrange for a healthcare professional to see you free of charge.

You may be allowed to take your own medicine but the police will have to check first. If it is a prescription medication, it should be labelled with your name and /or be accompanied by a prescription.

If you tell the healthcare professional that you have a mental health problem, they will talk to the police. They can advise the police as to whether you can stay in the police station and be questioned. The police custody officer will make the decision.

It's important that you tell the healthcare professional how you feel and whether you feel well enough to be questioned.

Future Proof Skills

Survival Skills Learned Prosocially In Nature Change How We Think

Skills for self-reliance are the sort of leadership skills required for civilisation's collapse. While some influencers talk about "Thrutopia", it allows them to ignore the basic skills required for surviving event horizons such as AMOC collapse. Which they will quite happily lecture me about while envisioning "plucky humans" armed with spears. This seems like a very triggered response for someone who took Ayahuasca in the presence of a shaman who spent 12 years living alone in the Amazon. This was said in January 2026. Its now April 2026, we are on the brink of agricultural collapse due to conventional farming's reliance on oil, nitrates and phosphates, which come through the Straits of Hormuz.

Survival Skills Learned Prosocially In Nature Change How We Think. The lecture on changing people's behaviour was interesting (Also a little triggered?) People don't change their behaviour when you tell them they can continue to enjoy the fruits of industrial capitalism, but all we need to do is live with the mindset of the Celts. They think you're a fucking moron. Because how can we know what the Celts even thought, and why would we even try?

Survival Skills Change how we think because these skills connect us to the land, bring us into a deep communication with plants and our distant past. Basic skills:

Water Purification. If the AMOC collapses and water ceases to come from the tap, this skill reduces the spread of waterborne disease.

Advanced First Aid & Mental Health First Aid: Mental Health First Aid is a free life-saving course, proven to reduce suicide. Neo Shamanism doesn't have a Mental Health track record

Dry Sanitation Solutions: Build and use Compost Toilets. We all do it at festivals. But someone else manages it. I show you how to build a hygienic rat-proof composting toilet.

The Famine Garden Climate-resilient gardening for people who don't have the luxury of owning their own smallholding or enough land to grow hay for their horses. Most people have no knowledge of edible plants that are easy to grow, Like Spider plants, which grow indoors and self-replicate.
The Famine Garden contains perennial staples: Silver weed, typha Latifolia & Duck Potato (pond required), Apache Potatoes, Skirrets (protect from slugs & snails) and Jerusalem Artichokes.

Foraging and Conservation of Staples in the Environment

Firecraft & Woodfuel Management & Building Thermal Mass Stoves: Coppicing your firewood. Rotations of 8-10 years produce firewood for your emergency fuel stash.

Shelter Construction, Basic Building Skills & Radical Construction Methods: Stephanie Rosts paper, How We Could Live In a Post-Collapse World, identifies shelter construction and learning how to reuse and repurpose. I have built a shed with materials from local skips and builders' waste at a cost to me of £0.00. A person able to build a shelter in the wilderness with no tools, in which several people can shelter and a fire can be lit inside, is an asset to any community in a survival situation.

Past collapses have shown that highly skilled people are protected by the community around them. Their skills are recognised and if they are also teaching the community, their asset status increases.

Plucky Humans indeed.

Communication for an Emergency Grid Down situation
Mehtastic free, off-grid, decentralised communications. In a power outage, when there is no cell service, Meshtastic offers options for SMS messaging.

Software Defined Radio, which can run off your laptop or smartphone gives access to radio transmissions outside the digital spectrum.
